About the Memorial Collection
This collection of four pieces includes a Chanukkah menorah, a Shabbat candlestick, a tzedakah box, and a mezuzah – designed after the one my father commissioned from me to be placed upon his casket. The GRC staff and I are thrilled to honor his memory this way.
I have known for some time that my first forays into both integrating my work into the larger collection and commemorating my father artistically would be done with Purpleheart wood, as it is both a durable and resilient heartwood, and beautifully unconventional in its colorful presentation. My father absolutely adored the initial pieces I created for his evaluation out of this wood, and encouraged me to “save its debut for something really special” and in that, I have no doubt, I have honored my father’s wishes.
I hope you will join me in what I hope to be the first of many creative endeavors commemorating the legacy of Gary Rosenthal, fusing the passion for creativity, which he never faltered from encouraging in both myself and the artists he assembled under his care, with the beautiful legacy of brightening the world which he leaves behind.

About the Tzedakah Box
A handsome extra large steel tzedakah box with brass and copper embellishments. A strip of rich purpleheart wood and a strip of brilliant fused glass in shades of purple adorn the front. The glass features “tzedakah” and Gary’s signature in gold.
